Video Game Animation
I think video games are such a weird space for animation because I feel like the audience/user suspends their disbelief even more than they do for film. After being stuck spending too many hours watching my roommates play video game after video game, I feel like I've seen so many different crazy styles that are all equally enjoyed (by them). Some look so old school and pixelly while others are insanely realistic, but the shooting people and dying stays the same. Kind of like what Harrington said in class about Minecraft, when you're immersed in a world long enough your mind bends to believe and follow the rules that have been created no matter how actually life like it looks.
I agree Em! I think especially with video games, it's usually gameplay or story (or music honestly) that matters more than the quality or the style of the graphics. Plus with all the avenues for indie companies to break in, we get a more diverse range of aesthetics in video games, so we don't expect to see the same thing over and over and over again.
