Realism and Animation
In class today, we started o talk about something that grasped my attention. Morphing lines is something really interesting to me, especially because I didn't realize that people actually talk about those moments in animation where someone's arm turns into stairs, or an airplane is twisting into a car. I thought that people would watch these things happen and honestly not think much of it, since it's almost in an alternate universe. In class Professor Harrington mentioned how Dinsey perfected a multi-plane system, where everything is linear and the camera is locked down. This is obviously a transition to realism. After this, we spoke about virtual reality. I started thinking, could the multi-plane system transition and VR be related or connected in some way? Think about it, the goal of R is to immerse someone into a whole new world that must be realistic (otherwise the person will not be convinced they are in that world). You can't have things bending and changing in front of your eyes if you want to believe somethings actually happening.
