Cameraman's Revenge
After watching the “Cameraman’s Revenge” I was really interested in the stop motion animation of objects, especially bugs. I personally think it’s really interesting that animators can use the personality of objects to their advantage. Since you can’t make a bug talk it is interesting to use their pre-determined characteristics to their advantage. This is like the silent film era where you had to use a lot of visual symbols to portray ideas. I think this is the exciting part of animation, you can use both the exciting visual symbols and limited beautiful dialogue to tell an exciting story. Many live action feature length films are too dialogue heavy and carries on too long. Animated movies are generally mostly short and of the ones that we’ve watched in class we’ve focused on how the sound influences the images rather than how dialogue drives the story. Even in our screenwriting classes in Park we learn how to write descriptive scripts instead of learning how to write dialogue first.
