Shrek Retold
About a week ago this got posted online. It's the entire first Shrek movie composed of 200 individually animated sequences. Kinda like Our Robocop Remake, except it's mostly animated, so it's applicable here. I'm interested to hear any of y'alls thoughts, cause I've always found it interesting to see these giant compilations and find what the best segments are. Personally, I was utterly transfixed by Chris-Chan randomly showing up and narrating a section of the film.
Oh, quick shoutout to the full-on anime fight scene at https://youtu.be/pM70TROZQsI?t=1427
ReplyDeleteMy friends were actually watching this while I was trying to do one of my reviews. I found the idea of there being several different aesthetics within a scene to be to be riveting, but I can’t see this type of film venturing far off from Youtube. Despite my interest in the idea, I couldn’t say I really enjoyed a majority of the aesthetic styles that I did see in my minimal viewing of the film. Although, I would love to see a professional production in a medium like this, as what I saw gave off a very amatuer, internet meme vibe that I don’t think feels right in feature films.
ReplyDeleteI watched this last night and it was such a weird fever dream. Some of the animation was so good but most of it was so bad, but that in itself is such an internet/meme culture/youtube aesthetic. Just like. What a weird thing that this exists now.
ReplyDeleteI think these types of films are so important because they allow us to remember how fluid art truly is. Personally, it shows how many different ways the same story can be told effectively, and is a great platform for artists to get their individual styles of art out there in the publics eye. Like going to a museum!
