Realism of Thanos

Thanos was made to be as real as our minds will accept. We need to avoid the uncanny valley when apron Chong works of CGI, but that doesn't limit the detail in physical performance. Thanos has animations that make him feel physically in a scene. His mass obeys the properties of physics and feels present among the olive action actors. Someone said how Thanos was made to be less realistic in order to not freak us out, however, I believe he was produced so realistically in order to make us truly fear him.

  1. To be honest I never felt the realism of Thanos or the other villains and it kept taking me out of the movie-- I recognize the work put in to make him feel physically in a scene but for me it didn't work for me

  2. I saw Infinity War the day after I first saw Avatar and I was amazed at how much motion capture grew in just 9 years. Avatar may have been mind blowing at the time, but looking back, the performances really aren't compelling because so much is lost when translated from actors' faces to animated characters' faces. Thanos, on the other hand, looked as real as any other character. There were so many little intricacies that were just totally profound to see coming from a CG character---it seemed like there were four times as many dots on Brolin's face than that of Worthington's.
