Response to: Princess Mononoke and the Nature Cliche Post

Princess Mononoke's unconventional conventional plot is not only made by its ending, but by the characters. Every character is fleshed out, and their personalities are made clear to the audience. This produces a unique experience where we can relate to nearly every character in one way or another. This includes bad characters having moral compasses or still remaining reasonable when things are tense. Plus, the good characters all have their unlikeable flaws that make us lean to enjoying each character's personality, and giving them all a chance.
