Akira

I admit I was one of those horrible people who automatically said they don't like anime, but I tried really hard to keep an open mind with this unit and I actually really enjoyed Akira. I found the story really interesting and the visuals and use of sound really cool. It was definitely very unique and unlike any other animation or film I've ever seen. My only problem with it is that I felt like it dragged on bit too long. I think the pacing at the end felt off and could've been wrapped up much faster. There were multiple points that I thought the film was over, but it just kept going and felt kind of the same of all of them fighting. Besides losing me at the end, though, I really did like the movie and I definitely want to see more anime in the future.

    I totally agree with this! I wasn't huge into anime before watching this. It was totally wild, there were so many plot twists and crazy sceneries. Things exploding, huge stuffed cars terrorizing everyone, and children with magical powers filled every scene. I do agree the ending was a little off and it went on for a little too long but overall it was an incredible film!

    I'm not going to lie I was one of those people as well. I thought anime was like a weird type of animation that I wouldn't enjoy. I personally don't really enjoy the graphics as much just because I don't find it as aesthetically pleasing. I enjoyed Akira as well, but really really enjoyed Princess Mononoke. Totally agree though, it is a bit too long for me and could of ended early, but after watching these I will definitely watch more anime!

The New Spider Man!

Yesterday I saw spiderman with some buddies and we all walked out absolutely giddy! This animation is the best animation to hit the theaters in 2018. Period. I remember watching it and as I was watching it thinking, "thank god I already finished all my reviews because I don't think I can put into words how good this movie is in just a page". The style of this animation is something you have never seen before from Hollywood. It is absolutely stunning. It follows traditions of comic book artists with bright colors, dark lines on the face, and a pop art texture overlayed on top of everything. My breath was taken away during the final fight scene: it was gorgeous , emotional, and the stakes were made clear in every shot.
