Rocket Man Animation

I was recently told to watch Elton John's music video for "Rocket Man". To my surprise, it was animation. I wouldn't normally be upset about something being animation, but I had just watched the music video for "Tiny Dancer" which is super aesthetically pleasing. I think this was really interesting how although animation could do things that can't occur in real life, I preferred the non animation music video.

  1. I don't really have an issue with the music video for Rocket Man being animated so much as I do with the stylistic disconnect. The song was originally released in the early 1970s and this music video, like the majority of his music videos, were released quite recently; this one by filmmaker Majid Adin. While I like Adin's interpretation of the song with his music video, and think the animation is just beautiful, I can't help but think if Elton had made on of his own it would have been vastly different in terms of style and meaning.
