Akira

I think that Anime is a fascinating form of animation because it is a hybrid of technology and art, and its science fiction storylines tend to reflect this. Akira is a prime example of an anime film that is obsessed with how technology shapes the world and the fate of the human race.  I thoroughly enjoyed the cinematography of Akira and thought it was interesting how it reflected live action cinematography with its use of camera movement. I especially thought the establishing shots of the city were visually engaging in how they would often distort perspective and distance. Anime is the perfect form to use for the Akira storyline as it can create its own world of towering skyscrapers, epic chase scenes featuring high tech bikes, and technology that doesn't exist in the real world.
