Women in Animation, Women and Animation
I really loved watching Chrissy's video! Hopefully she can come back another time to talk to us. I thought it was a really well made video and I learned a lot about Titmouse. It was nice seeing all the women that work there and seeing the jobs they hold. I think videos like this are really important especially for young women that want to go into animation because it helps seeing that it is possible for women to have these jobs. the statistics they used int he videos were upsetting, but not really surprising when it was like only 10% of the positions of power are held by women or that 20% of animators are women, even they make up 60% of the art students.
Speaking of women and animation, my friends and I watched "Mulan" last night which was super fun because I haven't seen it in forever. I definitely watch animated movies differently than I used to, it was cool seeing an old Disney movie again. Some of the things that were animated in this movie were noticeably old, like the way they styled the smoke or water looked more drawn than realistic. My favorite part of the film was during one song when they switched animation styles completely and made it look like a traditional ink drawing come to life.
