Stop motion's advantages

There are so many styles of animation within stop motion, because as long as there are objects that can be moved to create fluid motion--a stop motion film can be made. I've never seen a felt made film before, but Oh, Willy showed just how much can be done with stop motion. Oh, Willy creates a new world of animation that's never really been seen before. It creates a new world in felt that's wonderfully done with the soft materials moving and blowing in the wind. Not to mention the lighting in the film is so well done. The lighting as well as the softness to the film adds so much to it,  opening a new door to the world of stop motion. Oh, Willy goes to show how much opportunity is available in the world of stop motion.

  1. I agree that Oh, Willy's use of felt added another layer to the viewer's understanding of the film's world. The softness and naturalistic appearance of the felt material gave the characters a certain charm and was beautifully lit.

  2. I really agree with both of you with how the use of felt in "Oh, Willy" really helps to tell the story. By using felt, the world was able to feel much softer and take some of the harshness out of the things that happened. It also matched the theme of longing for maternal care. I think it by using it also complimented the whole nudist colony plot point because it added to the vulnerability.
