On Art and Who Gets to speak

so I just read this amazing article in the NYTimes:

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/10/03/magazine/morality-social-justice-art-entertainment.html

It relates to aesthetics more that it does animation.  It asks, 'What is important right now, the political value and status of the film/filmmaker vs the artistic merit of the artwork/film/animation itself?'  In a time where social judice is screaming against the foregrounding of discriminatory, racist and sexist America, the dialog shifts from content to context. Aesthetic debates widen outward to include the context of the artwork, the artist and the culture that supports the arts!
